Two-a-days turned into a one-a-day in St. Joe on Monday. The players ate breakfast, taped up, threw on the pads and went outside for a morning practice like always, but their head coach threw a curveball.
Once the players arrived outdoors for practice, Todd Haley called the team up and announced that the squad would be doing something together as a team. That something ended up being a morning spent at the Hollywood Theaters in northern St. Joseph.
“They have been working hard in tough conditions with pads on in 18 out of 20 days,” Haley said. “That’s a lot of days in pads in some difficult conditions, which we need, and it’s one of the reasons why I feel like we’re making progress.”

It turns out that the man wearing #9 was the victim of a practical joke, and not a new signal caller.
“Once we figured out what we were doing this morning, we had a good practical joke and figured that it was also the time for that,” Haley explained. “(Offensive Quality) Coach Nick Sirianni, we somehow convinced him that he was actually going to be in practice; and somehow he believed us. He actually put the entire uniform on, so it was good.”
The team never took a snap this morning, but Sirianni drew plenty of laughs anyway.
